The European Union

The European Union (EU) Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) requires risk-based human rights and environmental due diligence across companies' own operations, subsidiaries, and chains of activities, together with the adoption of climate transition plans. The Directive applies to very large EU companies and non-EU companies with substantial EU turnover, with obligations phasing in from July 2029 following transposition into member state law.
