RMI Downstream Assessment Program

Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI)

The Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) developed the Downstream Assessment Program to provide validation of the sourcing practices of companies that are not eligible for the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP) as they do not meet the definition of a smelter or refiner. The program applies to Union importers, processors (excluding SORs), manufacturing/assembly and traders. The Downstream Assessment Program allows facilities to provide validated information about their due diligence activities to their customers. It is designed to align with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas and meet the requirements of the European Union Conflict Minerals Regulation. The assessment is based on the company's alignment with OECD Due Diligence Guidance.
